Many people can recollect their first car, and if you’re about 40 or 50 years old your first car may have been a real American muscle car. You will find there’s a growing movement of people throughout the United States shopping for classic muscle cars to restore. The primary reason for this is simply because nobody manufactures cars like this anymore. Everyone is thinking about why no one has started to build muscle cars again.
Chevy and Ford continue to release new versions of their renowned Camaro and Mustang every few years. The problem is the fact that with each passing model, they move away from the ferocious power of a muscle car to something more technologically advanced. Will there possibly be the next car that’s got a 327 and a 4 barrel carburetor? The unfortunate truth is we most likely won’t have one ever again. The key to a great car is the rims and stance.
The main problem is people prefer to correct things when they are not necessarily faulty in the first place. A good example is the timeless 1967 Camaro, which is regarded as the all time great muscle car. So if this car was so popular why did Chevy stop making it and why have they not made that type of model since. This also goes for the 1966 Mustang, an amazing car with a great style and they just gave up on making it.
Here’s the ironic part. The legendary VW Bug went out of major production in the late seventies, but was unveiled a few decades later. While the modern Bug sold great they could possibly have sold more if they simply just went back to the old style of Bug. However these folks can’t see further than the end of their noses and they keep imagining that newer is better.
Let me suggest something take into consideration. If Chevy thought they would go classic and build a Camaro with a 327 engine and 4 barrel carburetor and left out all the elaborate technology, wouldn’t you want one? I’ve actually quizzed hundreds of folks through the years and they all say that they would go out an get one. So what is the trouble with the automobile businesses? It appears like there’s a need for these classic cars but it doesn’t seem like the car companies are listening.
What will it take for GM or Ford to choose to make those classic muscle cars again? I am just certain that selling these unforgettable American cars will be very worthwhile for the car companies. Until Ford and GM realize this, we will have people rooting around scrap yards and the Internet for classic muscle cars to rebuild.
We may get lucky and some day these companies will plan to start making them. At this time, these CEO’s think technological innovation makes better cars. It’s probably a better idea to merely return to your roots.
